One of our TPA partners introduced Dialysis Management Solutions (DMS) to a large hospital system client, with nearly 10,000 employees, who needed assistance managing escalating dialysis claim costs. Even at their size, they were unable to access reasonable discounts from local dialysis providers. With 4 or 5 active dialysis patients each month, they were paying over $7.5M in claims, spending an average of $850,000 per patient, and needed a solution to this major expense problem.
That’s when our team stepped in to review plan documents along with claim history and presented DMS’ case management and cost management services, ultimately providing customized savings solutions. We helped the group amend their plan documents using the DMS proprietary plan language allowing them to limit outpatient dialysis reimbursements to a Reasonable Value Payment amount.
DMS also worked with our TPA to create data feeds helping identify high-risk patients before they even started dialysis.
