Gasoline Haulers & Distributors

The following are the classes of operations that are currently included in the program:
  • Petroleum products including:
    • Gasoline 
    • Diesel 
    • Kerosene and Propane 
    • Oils and lubricants 
    • Chemicals and chemical waste by-products 
    • Compressed gases 
  • No accounts that have c-stores, or do any home delivery of heating oil, home delivery of propane or any services associated with this class.
  • Low level nuclear is acceptable:
    • Furniture, clothing, machinery and parts that have a charge, but no fuel rods or other high octane items. These are usually covered by a nuclear policy. 
  • Non-hazardous dry bulk such as cement, fly ash, lime, plastic powder and plastic pellets.
  • Food grade commodities such as milk, ice cream, vegetable oils, sugars and syrups. 
  • Tank trailer is mode of transporting the commodities hauled.
 
Coverages Include:
  • Auto Liability & Auto Physical Damage
  • General Liability 
  • Umbrella (if large enough) 
  • We will consider the property and the MTC if premium is in excess of $25K and no workers’compensation. 
  • The minimum for transportation is $100K in auto liability only and a fleet minimum of 20-25 tractor units. 
  • If tank wash facilities and tank farm locations and terminal locations are involved, we can provide pollution coverages in addition to the P&C.
 
The underwriting information needed is as follows:
  • Complete ACORD applications, including all coverage needs and schedule, including all coverages and options. 
  • Supplemental Environmental Transporters application signed and dated. 
  • 5 years hard copy currently validated company loss runs within 90 days of x-date. Also, detail on all losses over $50K. 
  • 3 years audited financial statements. 
  • Complete drivers list including date of birth & date of hire. 
  • Copies of current MVRs. 
  • Resume of key personnel (Safety Director or key safety professionals). 
  • Copy of vehicle maintenance program. 
  • Copy of driver training and safety program. 
  • Driver hiring criteria (written) including what is acceptable from acc/violations, minimum age requirement, and minimum prior experience (tank vs other). Also, include any disciplinary action for monitoring current driving force. 
  • Does carrier address fatigue management? 
  • Copy of security plan addressing drivers, vehicles, terminal locations, loading racks and delivery points. 
  • Copy of accident/spill plan. 
  • Written procedures for loading and unloading cargo including checks for unloading into the proper container to prevent overfills and mis-deliveries.
