Premier Hospital Professional Liability Insurance Program

Allied World and Premier Insurance Management Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Premier, understand that the exposures faced by the healthcare industry are always changing and that comprehensive coverage is fundamental for an organization’s survival.  With unparalleled knowledge of the field, Allied World and Premier have created a specialized primary hospital professional liability program for Premier alliance members.
 
With an experienced team of underwriters, risk consultants and claims professionals, this program offers expanded policy coverage, state of the art risk consulting and claims services, an exclusive Premier Coverage Endorsement, premium credit for Premier alliance members and additional premium credits for hospitals using Premier’s Quality Advisor or SafetySurveillor Tools.
 
As enrollment in the program grows and loss experience remains favorable, Allied World will offer a profit-sharing arrangement to hospitals participating in this program.
 
Features & Highlights
 
Premier Endorsement, including:
  1. Premier 10% Credit automatically applied to all new participants. 
  2. Premier Enhanced Coverage Endorsement.** 
  3. Clinical Risk Management Program for Premier Hospitals. 
    • Also per attached, you will see our Risk Management program for Premier as offered by AWAC. Our offering is beyond the standard RM offering. For example. Each of our Premier participants will automatically receive an annual subscription to ECRI HRC at our cost.
    • Educational seminars/webinars for individual systems based on a needs assessment. 
    • 1 annual complimentary Risk Management Resource (per list attached).
  4. (5 & 15%) additional premium credits applied to those hospitals that utilize Premier’s Informatics – Quality Advisor tools.
  5. Retrospective program. This will be a designed retrospective rating adjustment program that will allocate a certain percentage of premium (up to a maximum 10% return) back to all participants based on group losses.

This endorsement is exclusive to our program and is automatic coverage to all participants:

  1. Occurrence Based Fired Legal 
    • Premier Member Limit: $200,000 ($100K is on base form)
  2. Sexual Misconduct: $1/$3MIL in Limits INCLUDING DEFENSE OUTSIDE (Defense Inside on base form)
    • Defense coverage is unique to our endorsement.
  3. Punitive Damages – Most Favorable Venue, Including Defense
  4. Defense Expenses Outside the Limit – (Defense costs are inside limits on main policy)
  5. Emergency Evacuation 
    • Premier Member Limits: $25,000/$50,000, $2500 Deductible (coverage and sublimit are unique to Premier (not on base policy)
  6. Defense Expenses for Admin, Regulatory and Disciplinary Hearings
    • Premier Member Limits: $25,000/$75,000, $2500 Deductible (coverage and sublimit are unique to Premier (not on base policy)
  7. Amend Definition of Insured – Automatic
  8. Medical Payments for GL 
    • Premier Member Limit:$5,000/$20,000 (base form is only $5k) 
  9. Accept Competitor’s Application
  10. Aggregate Deductible Options (TBD)
  11. Defendant’s Reimbursement 
    • Premier Member Limits: $250/Day and $5000/Year (Increased limits for Premier (base is $250/day and $2500/year

 

Submission Requirements
  1. 10 years of currently valued carrier loss runs 
  2. Employed physician list with specialties/retro dates (if applicable) in Excel
  3. Number of ancillary personnel (CRNA’s, Midwives, PA’s, NP’s) 
  4. Quote due date 
  5. Risk Management policies & procedures including quality assurance and performance improvement 
  6. Most recent JCAHO and/or state inspection report 
  7. Medical staff bylaws 
  8. Most recent audited financials 
  9. Schedule of locations

 

Service Standards 

Together, Allied World, Premier Insurance Management Services and their program administrator, AmWINS are committed to providing the highest level of service:

  • Acknowledge all submissions within 24 hours
  • Acknowledge all claim notices with an immediate email response and assignment of claims representative within 24 hours
  • Issue all policies within 7 business days from the date of receipt of the last subjectivity (if applicable)
  • Issue excess policies prior to receipt of all underlying policies (primary underlying or followed policy required)
