Charlotte-based AmWINS Group, Inc. (“AmWINS”) today announced that Scott M. Purviance has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of the firm. Purviance has been Chief Financial Officer of AmWINS since 2001.
Purviance will continue to report to Chief Executive Officer M. Steven DeCarlo. Purviance will have responsibility for AmWINS’ accounting and financial operations, mergers and acquisitions, information technology and actuarial functions in addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm. Purviance will continue in his role of Chief Financial Officer.
“This is a natural progression both for our company and for Scott,” said DeCarlo. “As AmWINS continues to execute its strategy of growth across business lines and geographies, it only makes sense that we would expand Scott’s responsibilities beyond the realm of finance. Scott’s broad insurance industry knowledge and contributions to AmWINS position him well for this new role.”
Prior to joining AmWINS, Purviance was Vice President of Finance for the Business Insurance Division of Royal & SunAlliance USA, Inc. Earlier in his career, he was part of the insurance services assurance practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.
